Drini Times was established through the initiative of the tour guide Drini Xhafa. Noticing the wealth of the Drin River, which is the largest river in Albania with unexploited extraordinary tourist capacities, the idea was born to allow more tourists to spend time on the Drin River, thus adding greater value to their holiday time. Thus, the concept of time with the Drin River created Drini Times.
The first step began in the summer of 2019 when 10 transparent kayaks arrived in Shkodra and the activity of kayaking tours in the Drin and Buna rivers started.
The goal remains the same and simple: To increase the time spent on activities by tourists in Shkodra.
Drini Times collaborates with “Well Point – Care for everyone” and its leader Aurora Zylaj Pirovic to introduce bird watching in Albanian tourism, enriching the Shkodra area’s natural experience. This partnership not only promotes environmental awareness and protection but also led to the creation of the Naturaliste camp. This summer camp for children aged 10-18 focuses on connecting with nature and physical activities, helping participants explore hidden local destinations, often by bicycle. Furthermore, Drini Times and Well Point’s collaboration with local and EU bodies has established the Shiroke Water Sports Point, a community beach managed to serve a broad audience.
